France: Cultural Showcase

On April 4th, 2013 from 4pm to 6pm, a group of French students from SKEMA program at NC State and under the wonderful leadership of one particular student, Ms. Mathilde Decamp,s helped OIS showcase their home country – France.

Dozens of French students provided a two-hour long experience for the NCSU community on French language, music and culture through thoughtful displays, food samples, music and various short workshops. Apart from a fun display on French gastronomy, the students provided samples of French toast, crepes, and apple pies for the guests in Caldwell lounge. Students also created an opportunity for visitors to practice their French with native speakers, and enjoy their visit through enjoyable sounds of guitar music in the background.

GTI/OIS Line Dance Party

On March 12th, 2013, OIS partnered with GTI (Global Training Initiative) to organize a mutual cultural event for SKEMA and degree-seeking international students at NC State. The event took place from 6 pm to 8 pm at Talley Student Center Ballroom where students were first offered some light refreshments. Led by the instructions of the energetic Mr. Bob, our students were then presented with an opportunity to learn the basics of American line dance. Times of fun and good dancing were crowned with a competition in best western wear costumes designed by our student participants.
